July 23rd, 2012, City section of South China Morning Post by Jennifer Ngo wrote about a local school struggles.
San Wui Commercial Society School is known as a pioneer of inclusive education. But the school is struggling to keep its door open due to deficits despite of government support. For the past 10 years this school has been providing inclusive education, currently the school has 120 students and 40 of the 120 students are mainstreamed with SEN support. The government welcome the model of mainstreamed SEN, but yet do not increase funding because the school doesn’t have enough SEN students. The school still wants to continue, but risk labelled as a special needs education school that would deter parents from enrolling their children.
