Acupuncture helps with autism recap from SCMP
July 10th, 2012, City section of South China Morning Post by Jolie Ho wrote about how acupuncture helps students with autism.
The Buddhist Po Kwong School located in Fanling has an outreach program for their students with autism to be treated with acupuncture. The school has 280 students and a third of the students population has been diagnosed with autism.
Lam Kar-Yeung is a senior Chinese medicine practitioner with Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions Workers’ Medical Clinics treated the students. He said it takes 20 to 30 treatments to see an improvement and acupuncture helps with blood circulation and soothes nerves.
One student’s mother said her son is emotionally more stable after 3 months of treatment, twice a week. Her son has less angry outbursts, sleeps well, less slobbers and is able to concentrate.
